Question:
May on pop a pimple on Shabbat?
May one remove a splinter on Shabbat?
Answer:
A person who has a pimple that is causing him pain may pop it on Shabbat either with a needle or with his nail in order to withdraw pus.[1] This is permitted even if a little blood will come out as well. However, one should not press on the place of the pimple after it has been opened.[2]
Similarly, It is permitted to extract a splinter on Shabbat even with the use of a needle or tweezers. This is permitted even if one knows that some blood will come out in the process. If possible, one should try to remove the splinter in a manner that no blood will be drawn.[3]
