Question:
I heard that one may separate bad from good as long as I take out some good with it, is this true?
Answer:
One way to circumvent the issue of Borer, is to take a substantial amount of the ochel along with the pesolet. [1] For instance:
a. If there is something in one’s drink that is not desired, then one can take some of the liquid along with undesired substance and dispose of it.[2]
b. If one squeezes a lemon into a salad and seeds fall in, one must take some of the salad along with the seeds that fell into the salad.[3]
c. When separating oil or water from a can of tuna, the water or oil that is above the tuna may be poured out, but once one gets to the level of the tuna then one must take some of the tuna along with the oil or water that is being poured out.[4] This is also the case when separating the water from a can of corn, or coleslaw from the juice.[5]
