Using A Kettle With A Filter On Shabbat

The Daily Halacha Moment - Kettle With A Filter On Shabbat 🍵

״כל השונה הלכות בכל יום - מובטח לו שהוא בן העולם הבא״ (נידה עג ע״א, מגילה כח:)

“Anyone who studies Halachot every day is guaranteed that he is destined for the world-to-come” (Megilla 28b, Niddah 73a)

Question:

May one use a kettle that has a filter on the spout on Shabbat?

Answer:

It is permitted to use a tea kettle that has a filter on the spout, since even if some small tea leaves come out into one’s drink, it is normal for one to still drink that tea in that manner and spit out any leaves that enter his mouth. However, before pouring the kettle, one should wait for the leaves to settle at the bottom of the kettle. [1]
