Question:
May one cut one's hair on Shabbat?
What is considered Gozez with regards to Hair?
Answer:
Merely cutting two hairs with scissors or other cutting instrument is prohibited as a toldah of the melachah of Gozez. [1]
Similarly, if one cuts one white or grey hair that is between black hairs, he also violates the prohibition of Gozez. [2] However, cutting only one hair, even with an instrument is rabbinically prohibited. [3] Furthermore, any method of hair removal, even by
hand, is at least rabbinically prohibited. This includes:
a. Tweezing a hair.
b. Using any type of hair remover. [4]
c. Pulling a hair from one’s beard.
Similarly, It does not matter if one is cutting one’s own hair or someone else’s, it is nevertheless prohibited. [5]
